National Bible Week

I am really enjoying the Common English Bible I received recently. It has made devotion time a bit easier to understand, and reading it aloud to the kids is nice. The language is so clear, and the meanings so real.

For example, this morning’s devotional verse was Romans 8:38-39

I’m convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love in Christ Jesus our Lord: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not present things or future things, not powers or height or depth, or any other thing that is created.

And do you know what that “nothing” means? NOTHING CAN SEPARATE US FROM HIS LOVE! It doesn’t matter what you have done, you are safetly surrounded in His love! And, as we are preparing our Thanksgiving feasts, with the turkey and all the trimmings, let’s remember to be thankful for this verse. As Sarah Young puts it in Jesus Calling

As you sit quietly in My presence, let Me fill your heart and mind with thankfulness. This is the most direct way to achieve a thankful stance. If your mind needs a focal point, gaze at My Love poured out for you on the cross. Remember that nothing in heaven or on earth can separate you from that Love.
