Most homesteaders have the space and means to assist in the conservation of endangered chicken breeds.
They can be as useful to you and your family as any standard chicken in providing eggs, and even providing the odd chicken meal – provided you breed more than you consume.

Many of these breeds are prized at chicken shows and make wonderful pets for children.
Knowing a little about each of these breeds can help you realize how these incredible breeds can contribute you and your family, and can help you decide on a breed you feel will be a good fit for your family.
Without our assistance, these breeds will become extinct leaving just another thing we as people failed to conserve for our children.
In this article, I am going to discuss the Conservation Priority Lists’ 2023 endangered chickens and how you can help save these breeds.

Di-Anne Devenish Seebregts was raised in an environment where daily life consisted of hiking, environmental conservation, growing fruit and vegetables, and raising poultry for meat and eggs.
She combined her passion for the writing word with her love of the pride that comes with not relying on others. She raised three children (who are now adults) to value the environment, and understand the value of being self-sufficient.
